Harmony travel folding booster expiration

Just purchased. DOM is 12/6/13. Manual says discontinue after 6 years of use. Confirming that is 6 years after it's first use, not DOM.

"Stop using this booster and throw it away...." 12/6/2019.

They don't care when you buy it or use it, they don't want you to use it after it's six years from DOM.

It's a slow-selling seat, sometimes they sit on shelves for a long time before they get bought, unfortunately.

The manual also says it will have an expiration date printed and there is only a dom and a blank area for "delivery date". Was wondering if it was similar to the bubble bum as it would depend on opening of the package.

Yeah, unfortunately the Bubble Bum is unique in that regard, it would be cooler if other seats had the same rule (but it's much, much easier for them to maintain parts and recalls and stuff based on a single DOM, I guess BB doesn't have a large enough distribution for it to be a problem for them? Or the expiry is so short they have more wiggle room?)

Does it have an expiration date stamped into the plastic somewhere? Some seats (I'm trying to remember if my Harmony NBB's do) have the expiration date actually stamped into the plastic on the bottom, not on a sticker.

ETA - OK, I decided to check. Our Literiders do have the expiration stamped on the bottom. It has the manuf date stamped with the dial system (dial with arrows for the day, month & year) and says 'DO NOT use this seat after' with 2017 in a circle. I'd take a picture but it's all black so you probably wouldn't be able to see much.

I agree with Jools. We have the same booster. It expires 12/6/2019, 6 years from it's date of manufacture. The wording in the manual isn't the best, but that's correct (not 6 years from first use). I bought ours at Walmart for $39 and it was brand spanking new...was maybe 2 months old when I bought it. But I've had it now for 2 years.
