I participate quite a bit in our local freecycle, and today a girl I've talked with a lot came to pick up something with her 8 month old, probably about 18 lb baby forward facing in his cosco something or other. Maybe a scenera, but I didn't really look.
Forward facing, with loose straps, it was ugly!
I try not to go crazy on people, but I've talked with her before about carseat stuff, when she had her 2 yo in a turbobooster with no cover, with the seatbelt behing her, that was enough for me to nose into her business.
Today she said that this seat just wouldn't stay on the seat of the car rfing. I asked her if she was using the rfing belt path. Huh? Who ever heard of such a thing.
So, I gave her 3 trash bags full of old clothes, an earful about actually READING that little book that comes with the seat, and instruction on how to READ the little stickers RIGHT THERE ON THE SIDE OF THE SEAT that also show you how to install the thing. And I turned her boy back around. And tightened his harness (up front adjusting...I use mine Every single time I buckle my baby in!), and told her that the baby could be ejected if the harness isn't tight enough (showed her the vertical pinch thing) and if the chest clip isn't where it belongs.
I'm not a tech, but I play one in my driveway!
