Deep or high-set LATCH anchors?

I ran into a big issue in a 2014 Prius C. The anchor placement is the typical Toyota low anchors/high access slot, which is already freaking annoying, but they added a bar in the fabric, I guess to make the fabric ”pop” back up when LA aren't in use. Problem being, they prevented the slit from opening enough to attach anything but hook on connectors. The push on on the Mico I was working with were a no go. I mentioned this in a Facebook thread and got reports of this in recent vehicles from several brands. What a pain to put a cosmetic feature over compatibility!

2014 Chrysler 300C. The lower anchors are buried deep under stiff leather. It stinks because the car has three full sets. The top tethers are also hard to use.
