How much space b/n child and harness in Apex 65?

Just installed my longer crotch strap in the Apex and I noticed that there is alot of space b/n her stomach and the harness straps, as much as a fist. In her old seat (Triumph) the rule was to be able to have about 2 fingers worth of space-I think! Everything else seems right on but I'm wondering about this and if its safe. If I tighten the harness anymore it would squish her little shoulders down so I can't see how that would work. What do you think?

Where you are looking for tightness is over the chest clip at the shoulders :)

And the 2-finger rule is out, now the test is to try pinch the webbing horizontally. If you can pinch it, it needs to be tightened. If you can't, it's fine :)

You want the harness tight over her hips and shoulders. If there is too much slack in front of her you can try pulling up on the harness over her shoulders while pulling the adjuster strap through the front.

Which slot do you have the crotch strap in? Is it in front of her so that it angles in toward her? It should be either straight down or angle out (| or / rather than \). It might be that she has too much room between her and the buckle and she can slump.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the tips. I tried pulling up on the harness and it is much much better now. I didn't even know about the "pinch test" before. Thanks goodness for this site!
