Question Latchable booster seats...

Is that even a word "latchable"? Do we have a list somewhere of the booster seats that use latch?

There is probably one somewhere. Off the top of my head-

Britax Parkway
Diono Monterey/Cambria
Graco Affix
Kidde has one
So does Cybex
Clek oobr
Recaro performance booster

Those are all highback. Some have backless versions that are sold separately, like diono has/had the santa fe, clek has the olli, graco has the affix backless and they used to have the connext.

Child is just 4, in October. He weighs 44lbs and 43", the seat will go in a dodge caravan

We have a graco affix that I got a couple weeks ago. While my just turned 4 year old in October will not be riding in it, it fits her really well. She is about 36 lbs and around 40ish inches?

Thanks. Still trying to talk mom into keeping him in a 5-point but she wants to check out latchable boosters since finding out some boosters start at 30 lbs.

Which seat in a Dodge Grand Caravan will he be sitting? Hopefully in a captain's chair in the second row as those do have latch (the only latch in the third row is offset) and the captain's chairs do fit many boosters well.
If the child needs to ride third row outboard there's no latch to factor in, and not too many hbb's that will work well with the seatbelts back there.

Currently, his seat is latched in the 3rd row but if his brother (medically fragile baby) is not in the van, I believe mom moves him up to a captains chair.

If she's going to move it around, it's going to be hard to find a booster that fits well third row outboard. She can't use a latchable booster in the same spot of the third row (the offset center latch spot) where the child sits now.
The problem with most boosters is that the shoulder part of the seatbelt comes from the side of the van slight *in front* of he child's shoulder.
The angle the belt has to make to go through the belt guide of the booster often makes it hang up and could have lots of slack, get twisted, etc. The Vivo works for us third row outboard but is discontinued. I don't even know which current one I could say for sure would work!
Maybe this aspect of the difficulty of using a booster in a dodge GC will help the mom realize boostering isn't always easier. Lots of people think it will be more convenient than a harnessed seat when really they often aren't, ya know?
