Just saw new compass convertible

And I really like it. Other then fact that it it is the same size as a marthon, i think its terrific. how you can adjust the crotch strap without rethreading it, and also the harness straps easily adjust without rethreading. i liked how it was lower to the ground and the seat depth was longer. Built in locks off posi latch, i think i was falling in love with it. But they didnt believe in tethering rear facing which i found intresting, because they said all that energy would go to the baby then, versus the natural ride down and rebound affect. I think compass may have hit one out of the park with this one. anyone else feel the same?

I am sooo excited to see it. I think it may be a better fit for my ds then the Radian I ordered for my dd. Plus if it can install in MIL's car I might get one as a backup for dd.

Hmmm... We have a couple of Compass infant seats and I really like how easy they are to install and use. I could be VERY interested in this new convertible from them. Does anyone have any links for the new seat?

it was for me, its the same width as the marathon, but its lower to the ground to put the child in which i really like, and the interior room seat depth for the child is greater, i liked the "sip" protection of the seat, it wasnt as big as the recaro but bigger then the marathon, i liked all the padding, and that it was all removable like the decatholon, and you can take it out whenever you want unlike the recaro. the lock offs were not on the outside like the britax they were on the shorter part of the belt, so that will be intresting to install. only 4 patterns but hopefully they will make more.

the only pictures i could find were in this thread about abc http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=24587&highlight=compass+convertible

Ah, the amber was the one I was drawn to. Darn! Oh well, it still looks great! I love the idea of removable headrest and lower base!

if you remove the headrest though on the convertible it can only be used to 22 lbs rear facing then

The marvelous thing though, is that by the time most babies hit 22lbs, they're old enough and have enough muscle control that they can be more upright - which means that the seat can be reinstalled more upright with the headrest and still fit. And without the headrest you'll be able to get a newborn recline in smaller vehicles as well.

It's really a terrific feature when you look at it from that aspect as it could truly make a HWH convertible work rf'ing even in tiny cars at a newborn recline angle.

Also guilty of zooming! I really like the floral pattern. Do you know the height of the top harness adjustment?

18 inches (according to ABC conference)

I like how the seat is bowl shaped. I feel like it will give kids more room.

I am anxiously awaiting some real life detailed information about these seats. I have to replace 6 seats in my van in the next 16 months and I am trying to find the best options. If this seat isn't to wide, and sits low enough, it might be a better option to the Raidan for me.

Thanks for the updated information. Please let us know when you have more.

Kristi, I'm pretty sure the Compass True Fit is going to be wider than the Radian; I know the Marathon is about 19 inches wide, while the Radian is 17 inches wide, and the Compass is supposed to be about the same as the Marathon. In general, you can "puzzle" wider seats like the Compass or Marathon with narrower seats, especially if some sit flat on the vehicle seat (like Radian and Compass) and some sit up on a high, narrow base (like the Marathon).
