which one is safer? HB outboard or LB center?

They both fit fine, and the center has headrest, I was able to get a 3 across of the low back in the center, the head wise of onboard air infant outboard and an adult outboard, but I only do it when I need to seat in the back so my mom can sit in the front, but when nobody seats in the back I switched to the Highback, but DD wants to stay in the low back because she cam be next to the baby

Does makes sense to keep the HB for when I know she will fall asleep? That's the only time she doesn't stay in place

Sure. My 10yo rides in a LBB in my vehicle and a HBB in DHs truck -- by her choice. We take the truck for long trips and she falls asleep ALL the time.

ETA both my kids stay in place in LBBs while asleep.

Yep. My middle is 6 and rides in a hb most of the time, but I use a harnessed seat for her for longer or late trips just for that reason too.
