Can a turbo booster fit in a carry on?

I'm trying to find a HBB that DH can take on a plane with him for DD to use at their destination. (Don't want to check it. Don't want to have it mailed to our destination for several reasons.)

I've been stalking the Harmony folding travel booster, which we already have at DD's other grandparents house (love it) but it's just too expensive these days. I paid $33 for it last year, and now it's $50. I was hoping for some black friday/cyber monday sales, but it looks like no!

So I'm wondering if the Turbobooster could fit into a plane carry-on. I can get one for $29.99 from Amazon right now.

They can have a total of 2 carry-ons (one for each), so maybe the base in one, back in the other? Has anyone made this work?

I barely fit the back to our turbo in a large checked bag. The bottom however can be carried on outside the carryons and shouldn't count against the carry on limits.

I've carried on a booster out of a suitcase. It was in two pieces and we stowed it on the plane. It wouldn't have fit in a suitcase.

I know the bottom fits in a suitcase with the armrests removed and stored, but I don't know if the back would fit in a carry on.

I was able to fit the back into a large-ish rolling suitcase. Then clothes were packed all around it-this bag we checked. Then the backless part was just carried on board.

Alright, I went ahead & bought it :) They will have 1 maybe 2 checked baggages as well, so I'll put the back in there.
So, the base part gets to be carried on the plane not as the "carry-on"? Is it considered the "personal item"? Or neither?

It hasn't counted towards anything on Southwest Airlines. We just stick it in the overhead compartment.

It arrived today, really like it, except the DoM of September 2013  I know it has a 10 yr expiration and she's already 6, so 9 years left with it is more than enough but still a bit weird.
