Question Armrest in 2009 Prius - center install?

Hi all -

I am expecting my first in a few weeks and was planning to install my keyfit 30 in the center seat of my 2009 Prius. The certified installer at the shop said the fold-down armrest in the center position may make a center carseat install unsafe, and the owner's manual doesn't say one way or another.

What's your take on this? Does the center armrest cancel out the safety advantages of the center install? Am I better off installing passenger/driver side?

Hi there.

Those cars that DO have armrest restrictions (2011+ Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2010+ Chevy Equinox, and 2011+ GMC Terrains) have a mention on the armrest or in the manual. Toyota has no restrictions at all there for the armrest. Nor does Chicco.

You should be able to do a very easy seatbelt installation there, since neither Chicco nor Toyota allow LATCH in that position.
