Two new seats in my house

I have the Peg and the Pria on my living room floor! Now that I am actually spending quality time with them, lol, I have some questions.

The Peg has a steel plate in the back. There is foam or something covering it, but when I push down it still feels hard. Is this something kids notice? My 2 yr old is very verbal, but will only sit in these seats for about 10 seconds and I can't get a straight answer out of her.

The Pria crotch buckle button seems stiff and hard to depress. Will it break in after use?

The Pria has two rear facing reclines and the recline adjuster is on the back of the seat. Can I recline it to position 3 while "on the go" if my kids fall asleep without reinstalling it?

How strictly do you adhere to the 40" rule if there is plenty of shell room left? Also, how often does that happen - more than 1 inch of room, but already 40"?

Does the Peg have any extra legroom compared to the Britax or is the rebound bar in Canada what adds the room? I didn't get a very different measurement. The Pria had way more that either of them. The Peg is super wide in the leg area though, about 3" wider than the Pria.

After watching the youtube crash videos and being impressed with the My Ride, Advocate, and Coccoro, it seems to me that a deep shell is more important than internal head wings due to the head flying forward. So I measured all the sides and the Britax has a 9" shell, the Peg 7" and the Pria 6". I guess this only really matters if FF and outboard, but I was curious! In my mind, the extra 3" of foam lined side could really help.

For me personally, I am more comfortable ignoring standing height limits forward facing than rear facing, because seats are required to have them forward facing, which makes them more arbitrary in my mind. My logic is that if Dorel feels the need to put a 40" limit on all their seats when no one is telling them to, there must be a reason, which may or may not be related to crash performance, which makes me nervous.

As for the 40" limit, my DD is around 39.5" as of her last doctor visit and still fits in her Boulevard with growth to spare, so she would have outgrown any Dorel seat quicker than her Britax. It would be different for a longer torsoed kiddo though she's pretty proportional.

Do you find the leg room ok? My DD2 would have to stay in until 4 because I want the Foonfs for DD1 to FF in. I think. Maybe I could give DD1 the Britax to FF in and pass down the Foonf, although whole reason I got the Foonf was for rigid latch and FF performance! The click tight would make my UK travel so easy with the my MIL car. I was set on finding a roomier seat, but I don't measure the Peg as having any more seat depth.

I really need to find 2 new seats soon because it's awful not having a pair in my husband's car!

There's not alot of leg room, it makes loading somewhat more difficult, but not terribly so. DD doesn't mind at all though, and she is definitely the type of toddler that would tell me if she did lol. She sits criss cross applesauce.

For my own kids, as long as there is clearance, I've got no problem ignoring standing height limits entirely. I've asked multiple manufacturers and have yet to get a justification that makes sense on an individual (rather than general) scale

The Peg installed so easily in the center with latch next to the Foonf. I didn't even need wide mode.

So I know this is a weird question, but I am just having such a good time thinking of every possible scenario, lol. Do kids heads ever collide if next to each other RF? The Foonf doesn't have super wide wings. I am thinking that the it doesn't happen because the heads would both be going the same direction.

So..next question....when one kid is FF and the other is RF, does the FF kid hit their head on the RF kid carseat and would a seat like the Advocate help that situation if it does?

Final question, which is a bit random....would you FF your kid in a Foonf, Advocate, or Peg if you had a center seat and no space constraints....just plain preference and safety inklings.

I feel like such a weirdo. I just really like learning! My kids are right now both outboard and one has zero rebound control. I promise, IRL, I am not a neurotic nutcase! I have just found this really interesting and I have a 9 month old that nurses like a newborn so have a lot of time to sit and ponder!
