Car shopping- how can I figure what seats will fit?

We are looking at getting a new car, and are looking at some European cars (specifically the citroen picasso). How do I figure out if our carseats will fit, short of actually trying them out in the car? Is there a website with info about how carseats fit into european cars? A european carseat review blog?

I tried google, and I found conflicting information (of course) that you could only fit two carseats in the backseat and then another site said you could easily fit three. We're in latin america, not europe, and there is no isofix/latch here. Would that make a difference about how the seats would fit into the car?

Hi there,

I'm in Canada so unfortunately unfamiliar with that vehicle and with non Canadian carseats. However, just wanted to pipe in that using seatbelt to install instead of ISOFIX can help you fit three across because with seatbelt installs, you can push the outboard carseats outwards to the door and leave more room for the middle carseat. If you use ISOFIX, you can't do this. We do recommend using seatbelt installs if you are looking to maximize every centimetre or millimetre back there! Also, if you are able to actually try out seats in the car before purchasing, this would be ideal because even if you have total width measurements for the vehicle and measurements for each seat, this doesn't always tell the whole story. For instance, some seats are different heights where one will fit under or over the one next to it, saving a bit of room. Reading reviews could be helpful - sorry no knowledge of european review blogs, but maybe someone else will post with info on that.

Also, fitting three across generally requires at least some of the seats to be narrow. Are your current seats narrower? Do you have access to US/EU seats?
