Options for truck extended cab

Hi, we recently had our first baby and are trying to figure out options for my husbands truck. It is a 98 silverado with a half back. He thinks the best is to turn off the front air bag and install the seat there. That makes me a bit nervous. Our current infant seat for my car is a chicco key fit 30 but it seems to big for the back seat and it doesn't appear to have upper anchors. We are willing to buy a new seat that would work. Thanks for all your help.

He's probably right that the infant seat won't fit in the back seats, therefore it must be up front with the airbags off.

However, carseats can be safely installed with seatbelts if there are no LATCH anchors available.

I had an infant seat in the back of a 98 F150 3-door. Try the Keyfit baseless in the middle seat, or behind the passenger if it's hitting the console (my seat did in the Ford). If the Keyfit is running into the driver's seat when you put it in the middle, you could also try a Snugride there. They're narrower at the top so can project further between the front seats. The key is to install baseless.
