Several of my kiddos on my caseload need a specialized carseat due to their special needs. Any suggestions on funding these car seats if Medicaid denies payment?

Hi and welcome. Without having stats on individuals it is imposssible to make recommendations.

Generally speaking, best practice is to keep kids in regular car seats and follow best practice to the fullest. That means keeping them rear facing as long as possible, then harnessed forward facing as long as possible. There a couple seats that rf to 45 and 50 pounds. There are seats that forward face and have a recline position(s), which is often helpful. Regular seats are generally less expensive than special needs seats.

To answer your original question about funding, I would check with your local or state Easter Seals to see if they can be of assistance. If the child visits a children's hospital, they may be able to provide some advice as well.
