Rearview Mirror

**Sorry in advance if this is posted in the wrong place**

I know it's not "recommended" to use the mirrors to be able to see your rfing child, but I wanted to find one that would work on a seat that does not have headrests. I currently have the one that plays music/lights up, but it just "sits" on the top of the seat, which I know is NOT safe b/c it can become a projectile.

Can anyone recommend a "safer" mirror? I have a Jimmy, so the suction cup window kind wouldn't work either.

Thanks in advance.

First, I'd recommend getting a lighter mirror. The kind without the lights, etc. It should have the very light bendy mirror and have cloth edges. Remember, your childs face could slam into it. I think the one I use is made by Safety First. It's about $10 at BRU/Target/Walmart.

Mine has a plastic hook that can be attached to the top latch anchor in a car. I'm assuming that latch anchor would be on the floor behind the seat in your vehicle. (So that when forward facing the top teather would go over the seat back and attach to the floor) So if that's the case, maybe you could take a lightweight strap and tie to the teather anchor on the floor, then tie it onto the hook on the mirror. I'm thinking that securely knotting the strap would be better than using something with a clasp that could become a projectile.

Thank you for your suggestion. Yes I just want a "plain" mirror, not one with all the "bells and whistles", so to speak!
I do have the tether on the floor in the back of my truck, so I will look into a mirror that has a strap or something on the back of it so I can tether it.
The mirror you have, is that one that just "sits" on the top of the seat? Kinda like my mirror now with the music (has a wire that you bend to have it sit over the top of the seat).

This is the one I have:

http://www.target.com/Baby-Sight-Ba...d-browse=1038590&rh=k:mirror,n:1038590&page=1

It has a piece of material that comes from the top and another that comes out of the bottom. One has a circle shaped ring, and the other has a clasp. I think they both have velcro. In a car, I just hook the clasp to the top Latch teather anchor. In my van, I put the mirror on the headrest, put the top material over the headrest and the bottom one under it and attach them with the ring & clasp.

In your case...the strap on the clasp piece won't be long enough to reach your floor behind the seat. You would need to get another lightweight strap, tie it to the latch anchor on the floor and tie it to the strap/clasp on the mirror.

I supose it's also made to velcro the pieces together...but I wouldn't trust the strength of the velcro in an accident.

I hope that all makes sense. It's very easy when you see it...just not easy to explain.
