Positive car seat story

Was out to eat tonight at our local diner and the young waitress was saying oh your babies are cute. They are age 2 and age 3 months. I thanked her & she also told me her 9 month old is huge for her age like the size of a 1 yr old. So she showed me a pic of her forward facing in her car seat. I asked her if she was forward facing and she said yeah the pediatrician said since she is so big I could forward face her. I said oh wow that is really early to forward face her and even though she is big you could still get a ticket because the law is age 1. She said oh really? I also told her that even though she is large for her age her bones are still only 9 months old and it is very dangerous to forward face her because her spine is too weak to survive an accident. She is so cute and I wouldn't want anything to happen to her.

Then I showed her this pic that I have with a forward facing dummy and a rear facing dummy and you could clearly see that the forward facing dummy had it's head near its knees/feet and the rear facing dummy had it's head and neck in alinement. She was shocked and said oh I will turn the seat back then. I knew I should have trusted my gut when it felt strange having her forward but the pediatrician said it was okay. I said well pediatricians don't go to car seat technician class.

Pediatricians should take a class on car seat safety I mean it is the #1 cause of all baby/ child deaths
