This is how I found my DD when I got home after a 15 minutes drive, she was sucking on the strap that you pull to adjust the harness, the seat is 4 years old, this has never happened with the infant seat and she does the same thing, I am freaking out!

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand the problem. Are you saying the stuff around her mouth is from something that was on the strap?

I can't imagine what that could be, but I'd wipe the strap down to clean it and then tuck the end of it under the edge of the car seat so she can't get it.

I did, and it keeps getting that Brown stove outs, but my concerns is what it is and if it is bad for her

Does anything come off the strap when you wipe it off?

I would tuck the strap inside the cover so that she can't get to it.

Yes, when I wipe it something brown comes off, it kooks like mud, this seat wasn't mine, it was the seat if a close friend, I know that she was never in a accident and that she never wash the seat, that's why I took it,
Can it be mud? A 4 y/o was using it before I got it

I'd freak, too
Could it be that the strap has been gnawed on before by a chocolate-y little mouth? Or maybe something like coke has been spilled on it? :shrug-shoulders:
What does the substance smell like?

It doesn't smell, it looks like car oil but it's water like, 😰😰😰 I talk to my friend and she said that they don't drink coke... can it be mud?

It's got to be chocolate or something on the strap. Any chemicals on it would be likely be clear in color, and anything like dye from a black strap would come off as bluish. It honestly looks like crayola washable marker to me. Bet it got colored on.

I got it to the sink today, rinsed it with water, everything came off, and it looked like coke or like you said brown marker, it doesn't looked like chocolate, I wiped the harness and they didn't have anything.

Yeah, I agree with Shutterbug. Looks like marker. Ask your friend if her child used washable markers in the car.

If it's not sticky, I'm also voting marker!

And just b/c she doesn't allow Coke's in the car, doesn't mean it isn't coke. LOL Could have been spilled some other time. But coke (any soda or sweet tea or juice) would be really, really sticky!
