Washed Infant Seat Cover - now it smells!

New baby arrives soon and our Chicco Keyfit22 has been carefully stored for the last two years. Even so I decided to give the cover a wash since I could see some drool stains from DD. The cover didn't smell going in, but coming out it has a weird chemically smell. I followed the instructions (mild soap, hand wash setting cold). Has anyone experienced this? I'm hoping it will go away as it air dries. Also hoping it didn't screw anything up!

Should be fine I would think. If it doesn't smell clean after a good air dry maybe give it one more wash per the instructions & see how that works. :)
