What do the clips on the Incognito do?

Maybe it's my kid or my vehicles, but the clips just kind of sit there and the nylon straps are slack. I know they're required per the manual. But I'm already using it in Canada for a kid who is old enough & big enough to legally use nothing. So, yeah, I'm wondering if they actually have a function, or if they're just to check off some kind of belt guide requirement or something.

Maybe they help keep the incognito in place under the child in a crash? I'm imagining it possibly helping the child slide forward if the guides aren't there to keep it in the same place relative to the seat belt or something... I would use them.

Hold the belt on the pelvis in a crash. There is a foam booster in Europe without clips, and it just causes kids (crash test dummies, it was a shocking video to see before youtube took it down and oeamtc stopped playing ancient review videos) to submarine like crazy. I seriously question the foam pads that are sold for adults for cars that don't have clips, I'd like some crash testing with those, but at least adults have bigger hipbones, right?

Sorry, I know you posted this a while ago (and I did read it), but I forgot to come back & reply.:eek: I'd be really interested to see a video like that. So it's not actually a pre-crash positioner, but rather to keep the foam from submarining and taking the kid with it?
