Question Evenflo Symphony Straps Fraying

Has anyone else had a problem with Evenflo straps fraying? I have a Symphony e3 with a DOM of 2011/10/03. By chance I happened to notice the strap was starting to fray. Upon further investigation I found that both straps are fraying. I contacted Evenflo immediately. They are refusing to replace the seat and the straps cannot be replaced. The seat has always been in my car. My car and the rest of seat show no sign of any damage. Evenflo is telling me an animal chewed on it. Just wondering if others have experienced fraying or an animal being in your car without you knowing!

I haven't heard of any issues with the Symphony. And I don't see anything when I search here. Which doesn't mean there aren't issues with others' seats, just that I can't find them! LOL

Have you escalated your request to higher than the customer service reps?

Sorry you're having this issue. In the mean time, while you speak with Evenflo and NHTSA, is there another car seat you can use? Would it be in the budget to buy an Evenflo SureRide? It is around $80-100 depending on sales and makes an awesome travel seat (super light-weight) and has one of the tallest harnesses on the market.

I would not recommend using a car seat with a significantly frayed harness if there were any way at all that I could avoid it.

The strap that tightens the harness is the one that is fraying on our seet. Our date of manufacture is 8/1/2011. I too contacted Evenflo and got a less than expected response. They replied that the seat is out of warranty and that the strap is not replaceable. I am highly frustrated as we chose this seat based on safety reviews and the fact that it would be the only seat he would need. The expiration date is 2019. The harness itself is not fraying just the tightening strap. They recommended not using the seat. The seat seems to tighten fine. So now I have to decide whether to continue to use the seat or not as well as if we have to replace it, what to replace it with. I will be filing a complaint with the NHSTA. Thank you for that option.

I just pulled my Evenflo embrace seat out to wash the cover to get it ready for our baby due in December. I noticed the shoulder straps were frayed on one side where the strap goes through the height adjustment slot. It must have been from loosening and tightening the harness over time while taking dd in and out of the seat. I will be reporting the problem to evenflo as there is apparently a problem and they aren't willing to address it yet. Oh my seat was always inside and safe from animals chewing on it. Plus you can clearly see the damage is right where the plastic shoulder slot rubbed on the strap.

We are having the same problem. The strap used to tighten the shoulder straps is so frayed that we can no longer safely tighten the straps. When we called Evenflo, they told us the strap could not be replaced. We will have to buy a new car seat. We certainly will not be buying an Evenflo seat.

If you have time, try calling Evenflo again. If it's only the harness straps and NOT the adjuster strap that comes out at the bottom front edge of the seat, then it is replaceable on the Embrace. You may get a different CS rep who will be more willing to help. It's worked for me, but I understand that not everyone has the time to do so.
