So, yeah, what's the deal with Superlatch vs. new LATCH rules? What do I tell my friend about LATCH limits with a Radian in an 05 Chevy Express? Thanks!!!

Diono maintains it's ok no matter what the vehicle manufacturer says.

Chevy says 65 combined.

While I think it's likely a little above 65 total would be ok, Diono's comment on the proposed rule showed they were making faulty assumptions/factual errors.

I advise parents to go with the lower limit in such situations.

Do you need weights for radians? Tell me what kind and I can look it up. :)

A 2005 model year van likely was built prior to the Sept. 2005 timeframe after which Diono states that SuperLATCH can be used up to the Radian's maximum harnessed FF weight limit any way. Car model years don't exactly correspond to calendar years because car manufacturers typically transition to a new model year by late summer, such that cars built on/after Sept. 1, 2005 would actually be 2006 model year vehicles rather than 2005 models. The actual 2005 model year Express van in question should have a label inside its door frame or under the hood indicating its date of manufacture for certain, but odds are very high that it predates the Sept. 2005 manufacturing timeframe after which Diono allows full blown SuperLATCH usage.

I breezed right over the model year.

Diono says 48 lbs child in pre 9/2005 vehicles, but the same limit applies from Chevy.
