These are two seats we're considering for our foster baby. Likes/dislikes between these two seats? Others I should consider? She's in a Keyfit right now and she fits, but is extremely chubby and pretty smushed side to side - buckling this adorable baby is kind of like tucking an enormous fluffy pillow into an itty bitty basket. She's >95th percentile in both height and weight. 6 months, 20+ lbs. Installation is in an Odyssey captain's chair, and it is very important that I be able to install with latch vs. belt (4 other children climbing in and out of car...).
The Size4Me is attractive because of it's great RF height capacity. She's tall and will need height if she is to RF as long as she should. Price point is nice, but I'm concerned with reports of minimal padding once that extra cushion is outgrown. Also the short crotch strap. This is a seriously chunky baby, and she needs some tush room.
Nextfit sounds like it has great adjustability and would be comfy. It's spendy. I'm concerned about the RF adjuster strap being smushed into the seat back. I need to be able to buckle and unbuckle her easily and correctly, and I don't want waging war with straps on my to do list.
I tried installing our Roundabout 55 in the captain's chair, and I was very surprised at how difficult it was. Seemed like the latch connectors weren't lining up at the right angle with the latch points, and the base of the seat was in the way of a good angle for the connectors. It just wasn't the easy installation I was expecting. Granted, it was pouring rain, the storage room was flooding, I had just sent a child to the ER with my husband, and I was scrambling to install the seat before I dashed off to pick up a new foster baby.
Any suggestions? Likes? Dislikes? Other seats to consider?
Thanks!
