I am currently in the UK and looking to buy the Britax 123 evolve convertible carseat. Could you tell me if this is legal to use in Australia as the names on the Britax Australia site are all different.

No it's not legal to use it in Australia. You can only use Australian seats in Australia, they have to have the AS sticker on them. A seat bought in the uk with have an ECE R44 04 sticker on it which is the European standard.
