I would have been OK with him in it as a noob probably. Not having a tight enough harness, and no harness on in the current ones, makes a huge difference. You could cut the center out of the headrest portion like the new Keyfit inserts if it makes you feel better.

Yeah, he was tryign to sleep in the ones today so I didn't try to put the harness off and on him, and the harness has to be in a different spot without the wedge versus with so I didn't want to mess with doing that over and over. But that is how he looks back there every time., the one wiht the wedge and head rest that is.

That's how Griffin fit now matter what I did. Total chin on chest. I didn't like it at all. I also am not a fan of the way it positions their body with the insert either. It was best with no insert no headrest.

I plan to contact combi about it, it seems lots of people dislike that insert wedge, and frankly it sounds uncomfortable to have a wedge under your butt! I took the wedge out of the padding and put the padding back in. He's been happier in the seat, though still fusses some

I made a parental decision to remove the insert when ds was about 13lbs. The fit was much better and the harness was snug so I saw no reason not to.
