Britiax KidFix XP SICT (non-US seat)

Man, I never thought I'd be tempted to import a booster but I'm totally lusting for this one. The XP pad looks very interesting and claims to reduce neck forces by 30% in a crash. Base looks slim with nearly armrestless design (easy buckling), adjustable SICT, and rigid ISOFIX.

The Cybex Solution Q-Fix has similar features but is apparently incompatible in the 2nd row of the Honda Pilot, which is what I drive.

I am seriously considering a place to import one from.

Britax has a hold on them where you have to get it professionally fitted in-store to purchase. Vacation to Europe eh!

er, not in Italy. I just looked it up. €220 with free shipping (to Italy). I can see how much shipping is to the US is someone wants. Probably craploads...

Jealous, they do in the UK plus the Netherlands and Spain stores I've imported from. :(

I might need to know how big the crapload is to US zip code 98221.
ok. I'll grab the box dimensions off amazon and see how much the Italian PO wants vs courier. I need to go to MBE this week anyway I think so I can get a quite from all the various couriers

That looks like a great reason to buy a Volvo and take advantage of their "pick your new car up at the factory" program. :D

Eh, not all that impressed. It's a good start, but I saw a couple of design flaws that will lead to a high misuse rate.

The shoulder belt did not retract freely. If the user is not careful after first buckling to force the belt to retract, and if the child ever leans forward, the child is not protected. This is the exact reason that window shade-style seat belts are no longer made.

Also, it took a manual adjustment/placement to properly position the XP pad. Again, unless the user is careful to adjust it every trip, the child will not be properly protected. And we know how many people in the real world are likely to be that fussy about something like this.

It's kind of like a rear-adjust rear facing only seat. It is possible to use it properly, and properly used it may be just as safe as any other seat, but the design makes proper use highly unlikely.
