My granddaughter is a 52"/50 lb 6 year old with cerebral palsy. Poor upper and neck tone. I got rid of my Britax a few months ago thinking I could easily replace it with a 5 point harness system for taller children. I've spent the entire day trying to figure out which seat might work and am more confused than when I started. I miss taking her out in my car and the $2000 special needs carseat doesn't transfer. Any specific suggestions?
Are you saying she has a special needs seat for her primary vehicle? If so, what seat does she have?
As the PP stated, the Britax Frontier has about the highest height/weight limits outside of a special needs seat.
You might consider an E-Z on vest - they are more reasonably priced - but they do require additional tether hardware in some vehicles.

For both of your sake, I hope she is able to physically (stand, bear weight, etc) when getting in and out of your car.
And thanks, grandma, for being eager to take DGD out and about. I'm sure you both have a great time. [I know of more than one grandparent of a child with SN who does NOT do this.]
