I live in south Texas so I feel your pain. Poor DS had to ERF without any A/C vents in the back seat of my Forester. He is also little sweat ball to begin with. I have found that in general the less padding the better. If the description says cushy, I cross it off my list. The convertible that seemed to keep DS the coolest was the Foonf, but you probably didn't want to hear that. The fabric is flat (not fuzzy), and the seat isn't squishy, so the air seems to circulate. I seem to remember the old style TFP was good because it had an open design. I haven't played with any of the new style though.

I'm considering the new Clek Fllo - it looks promising. I hated the high base on the Foonf, the Fllo is suppose to sit a little lower.
May have to look at the True fit too.

Ooh, I forgot about the Filo! I don't pay much attention to convertibles anymore since DS is mostly FF. IME, the crypton fabric really does clean up in a snap. I loved our old TFP but it didn't last long at our house because it was for DH's car and he couldn't deal with the tug, tug, tug for the continuous harness. I just remembered that the smooth fabric on the Scenera worked well also.

Peg Perego was supposed to release a "clima cool" cover or something like that for their convertible. Haven't heard anyone talk about having it yet though.

I think the Evenflo symphony has a new platinum version that is supposed to help keep the kid cool in the summer and warm in the winter, it's not the longest lasting rf tho, you can probably only get to 2 rf

Yeah - Symphony is a no go for ds. He's got a long torso - has already filled out a carters 12 month onesie at 9 months.

The Pria is super squishy with padding, but is perfect for my little sweaty boy. It's an almost silky feeling fabric, and he sweats less in it, plus it seems to absorb what he does sweat, so he stays cooler in it than he did with the Keyfit (man that was AWFUL for sweat!) and Coccoro. We live outside of memphis where not only does it get hot, but it's humid as all get out.

We also have the blue RXT, with a nylony fabric. Not much sweat in that either.

I know there was a Radian cover that is suppose to be "cooler" - is it the Rugby?

Rugby is almost a creme colour, although it is somewhat plush. I'm thinking it may attract sunlight the least. Cobalt and Daytona are like a softer version of parachute fabric. I think Rugby only comes on the R100 though.

The carseat blog says that the new radians have wick away fabrics, or something along those lines. Worth a look.
