Clek Fllo

Trudy from Clek talked about their new "compact convertible," the Fllo, at the NHTSA region 2 conference today. I'm not sure how many of the details are already out there, so I'll share what I learned:

RF 14-50 pounds, 25-43", and sitting unassisted
ARB preferred but not required when RF
proper angle when RF depends on the child's weight

FF 22-65 pounds and 30-49", recommended for ages 2+, permitted for 1+
seatbelt OR lower anchor belt inside the belt guides (in contrast, Foonf has rigid LATCH and allows both lower anchors and seatbelt when FF)
The belt path is high and should help with easy installation (eg no problem with long buckle stalks)

LATCH use follows the new rules - maximum child weight of 40 pounds (for both RF and FF)

I didn't notice if there was an estimated time for it to come on the market, nor do I remember hearing a retail price.

Hmm, I really wanna hear a price on this. I might just ditch my Britax convertibles for a couple of these.

Clek released a PDF spec sheet via Facebook around an hour ago. Looks like a more compact Foonf - at that price point it may compete with Diono for ERF and/or 3-across.

Available early August (I'd hope after the Foonf release debacle, they mean it this time) and MSRP is $349.99 USD/$369.99 CAD.

Does the Foonf have a no-rethread harness? I would seriously consider the Fllo if it does. I don't want a Radian because they're such a PITB to install but I need a tall seat and I want an anti rebound bar or rf tether.

Canadian Fllo seats are shipping to retailers right now and the US seats are shipping to retailers at the end of next week.

One correction to the information I gave at the conference mentioned in the original post, is that the lower anchor weight limit for rear-facing will be 35lbs instead of the original 40lbs that I gave at the conference. (An updated weight including the anti-rebound bar resulted in a lower rear-facing lower anchor weight limit.)

The harness will need to be rethreaded, although over the lifespan of the seat with each kid who uses it, you're looking at having to do it only about 5 times or so over the course of 4 to 5 years. It measures 16.9" at it's widest point so is one of the narrowest convertibles on the market, and the base area that contacts the vehicle seat is narrower than that so in general bucket seats or narrower seating positions won't cause compatibility issues.

I'm subscribing to this thread so if any other question come up you're welcome to ask and I'll do my best to answer them.

Oh, it wouldn't work for small babies, though.
14 lb. minimum.

Darn. I was looking to put a RF convertible in that could fit newborn and up...in a tight 3 across situation.

Guess this is not it.

Angela it actually doesn't have REACT but a crumple zone in the form of a 'honeycomb' design. I guess more similar to Britax's Safe Cell.

Trudy, FYI - when you look at the site and click on the colors it shows the Fllo and correct color but says "Foonf" in the description on the bottom :)

I am sorry to be a pain but I am looking at the Foonf for my baby right now. Can someone spell out the differences between the Foonf and the Filo in black and white for me? It is making my head spin looking at it on the website.

Thank you!
