Help please!! 72 Nova

I need some ideas, DH and I have been going round and round with this:eek: I inherited a 1972 Chevy Nova Rally Sport from my Dad. He had it all fixed up and it's a nice, fun summer car. The only thing is its lap belts only in the back seat, and DD1 is in a booster. She can still fit in DD2's Frontier but it's a huge beast to get in and out of the back seat and it is about a inch from being too tall to fit back there any way. BUT it also doesn't have headrests for a booster:(
Is there any way of having them safely riding in this car? I cant find any info on retro'ing shoulder belts in the back but we live down the street from a custom car shop that works on older cars so if we could do it we can bring it there. This car has a lot of meaning to me, and it's just sitting in the garage collecting dust and starting fights so I'm pretty much willing to do/buy anything that would make it so they could ride with us.
Thanks!!

Shoulder belts are probably a no go, but it should be pretty easy to install a Heavy Duty Tether Anchor and EZ-on 86-Y harness. The back package shelf is a almost a solid sheet if it's the same as the Camero Rally Sport, and I'm almost positive it is.

Thanks so much, I had never thought of a harness!! Is a tether anchor something we could install ourselves do you think?
Also where is the best place to buy a EZ harness from? I'm so clueless, I've never even researched them!
Thanks again, seriously if we could figure this out it would be a much better summer;)

Totally something you can do yourself. The instructions that come with the anchor will go over placement requirements and the installation itself is just, Drill hole and put silicone sealant around it, put the anchor bracket on the bolt, followed by a washer, put bolt through drilled hole, add washer and nut to the bolt from the trunk, and tighten with a torque wrench. The only intimidating part is the drilling, but any competent body shop can do that.

You can look up local EZon distributors here http://ezonpro.com/ordering/

If you don't have anyone local, A-Z Bus in California ships. Anchor, Harness, and shipping costs 65$ the last time I checked through them.

Thanks again, I'm sure my DH can do the drilling, or his auto body tech brother, I just need to tell them what we need;) This may be a stupid question but where would you buy the anchor? Hardware store, special order? ETA I just re-read your post and it sounds like the anchor comes with it, correct? Apparently things aren't processing in my brain very fast today! Would we want to install the anchor in the trunk or the inside of the car's back window there where they are placed in cars now?

Thank you for the link, there is nowhere local to me so I will check out the CA one. thanks again I really appreciate it.

Sweet ride. Photo, please!

Sadly, I would never let my kids ride in my father's classic cars due to my concerns about the seatbelts. I wasn't all that comfortable in the front seat as an adult!

I just saw this now. My DH isn't keen on drilling a hole in it either so who knows it might just be a date night car, who knows! Here's the only pic I have on my phone on it's way back to MN where it belongs from my sisters house in NM;)
