My 4.5 year old wants to be RF!

I just wanted to share, since I think it so funny that my big girl wants to be backwards again. I flipped her FF at 18 months before I knew better, then back to RF at 2, FF again at 3.5, now back to RF! She said she wanted to be backwards buddies with her nearly 2 year old brother. And she says she has a better view out the side and back that way. Thank goodness we still have the RXT and she is all leg! The only bummer is that with two RF seats in the Fit, my giant husband (also all leg) can't get in the car at all, on either side.

Mine would prolly love to be as well, but at almost 50lbs and almost 45", I'd have to import a Swedish seat to let him :p. But Sean (21months, why have I been thinking 20 for so long) will be until he's 4yrs, 45lbs or 44", whatever comes first. And if he continues to follow big bro, he'll be 45lbs and 44" a few months before he turns 4. But he does seem to be slowing down sooner than big brother did.

I got the same request a few weeks ago from my 4.5yo. Unfortunately, she's 44", so even though she's got a teensy bit of room before hitting the 1.5" limit, and weighs 41lb... no can do, kiddo (we have an RXT). She wanted to be RF for the 8-hour drive to see my ILs.

Maybe it's a 4yo thing because my DD asked to go beck RFing during that year too. Unfortunately, she was too tall or I would have.

My now six year old, went rear facing from four to five. She begged me to rear face. She is still short enough to rear face, but she now weighs 45 pounds. She is only 41 inches tall. She has a short torso, as does her two biological sisters. I am pretty sure Eryn will rear face until grade 2 at this rate.

It makes me so happy to hear this! I speak to so many folks who don't understand why you'd want to RF past 1, and sometimes advocacy can feel like banging your head against a wall.

I turned dd FF at 4y3m because I needed to haul some stuff in my car & it was easier that way. I thought she was happy, so I left her that way for a while. After a little while she told me she wanted to RF again. I turned her back RF until she was 4y9m when she hit the standing height limit of 43" & 1.5" of shell in her XTSL at the same time. I had to buy her a 'pink seat with cup holders' to get to FF happily.

Mine did this too, after a few months FF, she wanted to turn back. She's petite, so she stayed that way past her 5th birthday, and would still prefer it, but had to give up the RXT a few months ago to her little sister who hit 35lbs and couldn't RF the TFP anymore.

My 6 year old would rather be rear facing. She says its more comfortable and she likes to sleep in the car. Her last trip before our rear facing options (owned seats) were outgrown, she was almost 5. My youngest outgrew the same seat at 3. He doesn't seem to have a preference, though.

I'm at least going to give her a foot rest for long trips. It's the least I can do since it's my fault she's so tall ;)

I may not have to deal with this with my youngest two girls... if they continue their growth curve, they won't be 44" until they are 6.

My 9 year olds still talk fondly about their "big backwards seats" (Multi Techs) and wish they could ride in them once in awhile. :)

My younger two, ages 6 and almost 12 would both love to rearface. I turned my youngest ff at 4.5 because she was begging but a few months later she wanted to go back rf. she did briefly before I sold the RXT. If the SureRide went by the 1" rule, she would still fit in that as she is only 35ish pounds but at 44+inches that isn't possible. I think it looks more comfortable.
