Internal FF Debate

Yesterday at my brothers wedding, I turned DS FF (because I'm pregnant and can't install a RF Radian worth crap). He thought it was silly to face the other way.

DS will have to turn FF soon since DS2 will be coming along.

However, I feel really guilty. Like now that I turned him (temporarily in my mind) we will get in an accident where he would have been safer RF. He has never complained about RF despite FF with grandma and my dad.

Soooo...do I flip him back RF for a few weeks? Or keep him FF? I wish I could RF him forever, but we don't want two RF seats because DH won't fit, lol. And I know at some point he will have to be FF.

Sigh.

You've got to do what's best for your family under your current circumstances. Given your discomfort with a RF install right now, it makes sense for you to stick with the FF installation, unless you can have someone help you with the RF install.

DH can install it back RF. I just had to suddenly give people rides (the limo left us at the church, wtf?) and had to take the seat out. DH wasn't around when I needed to reinstall, hence putting it in FF.

I kinda like him FF, but I feel guilty since I know he could be safer for a bit longer, kwim?

He's over 3yo and almost 40lb - I wouldn't feel guilty about FF him at all at this point. You did great keeping him RF so long!

Either way is fine. Yeah, we all know RF is safer. My kid? I'd keep him RF. Because that's me. Not because I'm "better" or because he wouldn't be safe FF.

I did turn my daughter at 3.5, but that's because she started bumping into the 45 lb weight limit (although I might be able to squeeze in a few more weeks RF again now that it's summer and she isn't wearing her rain boots...)

I dunno, if you're going to turn him forward in a few weeks anyway, I guess I'd probably leave him that way. Don't forget the SafeStop.

But if you really feel bad about having him FF or you're finding that you can't stand the backseat driving or that he is uncomfortable, I'm sure there's a way to fit two RF car seats in your car. You may need a different seat for the baby to make it work, but I bet it can be done. ;)

I would leave him forward facing at this point. I wouldn't lose any sleep over ff a 3.5 year old (especially a 38lb one). Plus he won't associate the change with the new baby in a few weeks.

If you feel guilty then maybe have your DH flip him back RF for the last few weeks. Then you won't have some mommy guilt lingering in the back of your mind. Of course, it is perfectly fine to have him FF but if it is nagging at you and it is a simple fix, then consider keeping him RF for this last little bit. I figure a pregnant mommy's brain does not need one more worry. If you have him RF, then your brain can find something else to worry about. ;)

He is still FF for now. He loves it, lol. I dont think he would complain if i flipped him back, though. He is still RF in DHs car because DH is a terrible driver ;). If we had most other seats he would be too tall to RF (which is why we got the R120 and MySize).

I may turn him back, but I dunno.

I did put on the SafeStop, no worries there.

Probably going to get a Frontier for him soon. I have him in the center now, but he will need to go outboard when baby comes.
