Question Nextfit headrest foam?

Has anyone heard of it being common for the foam in the headrest breaking? I've just seen a few people on Facebook and Instagram talking about their seats - it seems the foam is breaking in the same place in each case, on the bottom of the headrest. One lady noticed a few days ago and contacted Chicco. She posted a screenshot of the response, and it looks like they will be sending her a whole new seat.

So, they're asking if this is a common issue, and I just don't know, but wanted to find out. I don't have a Nextfit.

The foam on mine busted too. Right at the bottom. There is a gap between the plastic and the foam at that part of the headrest. It's a serious design flaw in my opinion. I could easily break it just by pressing hard on it. My son likes to fling his head backwards when he's protesting being strapped down. I'm sure that's how mine broke. And yes, they replaced my entire seat because of its. But I have to admit, I'm very nervous about what will happen after the warranty is up and it breaks, as I have no doubt that it will. With a 280 dollar price point I should get more than a year of use out of the seat!

I took a peek at the one on my van yesterday and didn't notice any breakage. Have not checked the one in my husband's car yet. I am not sure I am seeing exactly where the break would be? Can you post a pic?

I know the EPS/EPP foam is safe (I also know a lot of people remove the cover and freak out with "oh no my expensive seat is made with styrofoam what the hell can't they use quality material?!"), and I know in some cases cracks or breaks have been declared safe. My CCO foam cracked, although each chunk stayed attached to the shell, so Combi told me to leave it as is. But the people I have seen with this issue on Instagram and Facebook, my personal feed and CSFTL, are being told to stop using the seats and they're being replaced. I only know of a handful of situations, but I just don't know many people :p

So far, I haven't had this issue with any of my NextFits. I've had one for 14 months now and before I exchanged the 2nd one for the Zip, it never had breaking either. And I've removed the cover countless times to wash; maybe like PP said about her son protesting it would be prone to breakage. That is a major design flaw though!
