Is there a safe way to car mount my iPhone?

I'm looking for a device that will safely mount my iPhone on my car's dashboard, so that I can easily glance at the map when using the navigation feature. Is there any such a device that will prevent my iPhone from being a projectile, or that will itself not become a projectile, in the event of a crash? Ideally something that is compatible with multiple types of phone cases because I currently have a Lifeproof case but it is on its last legs and I will probably need to replace it soon with something cheaper. I have an iPhone 4S. Thanks!

DH & I use [ame="http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-HLCRIO104-Windshield-Dashboard-Holder/dp/B0099RGRT8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1399690287&sr=8-2&keywords=iottie"]this[/ame] in our cars. I have an LG Android and he has a 5C and it fits both of them in cases very well. It also worked with his 4.

I have no illusions that the phone couldn't possibly fly out in a crash, but the holder attaches extremely securely to the windshield and grabs the phone very securely for driving. I figure being able to look up and see my map rather than fumbling around and looking down is simply safer overall.

I got a suction-cup-mounted, flexible-arm thingy for $5 at 5 Below the other day. The cradle is adjustable to hold a wide variety of devices. I have no idea how it would perform in a crash, but...

Don't forget to secure things in the back seats, too. I've come across far too many folks with laptops, backpacks, and other common objects that turn into life-ending projectiles in even city-speed (e.g., 30 mph) crashes.

I use this one for my Galaxy Note 2:

In addition to the one you have, it looks like the same company makes a few different ones for iPhone in black or white.

Is there anything that's more secure than just a suction cup mount with side pressure mount on the phone? I'm thinking something where the device would mount with a strong adhesive, at the very least, and maybe have fingers that grasp the sides of the phone, rather than just with a non-slip pad and pressure. Is there nothing like that out there?
