Grownup sized booster anyone?

I'm transporting DS's best friend once a week in the third row of my Honda Odyssey, and I can't fit him in a booster.

He spent the night and I planned to have him ride home in our spare Frontier 90, but he didn't fit. He couldn't wedge his body into the seat.

I also had an Affix, and that's what he rode home in. He fit between the armrest by a hair, but it was VERY difficult to thread the seatbelt under the armrest then over his thighs, which came well above the arm rest.

DS loves his friend. If I can't transport him, they basically can't have play dates anymore.

Friend is six years old and roughly 49 inches and 120lbs. Our state requires boosters until 8 years or 57 inches.

Perfect! My DS is the same age, but polar opposite on body type. I haven't ventured into booster world yet :)

Oh...technically it only goes up to 120 lbs, so if he's heavier than that, you would technically be using it against instructions. I'd rather do that than have a poor belt fit, though.

I'm guessing on the weight. It's kind of awkward to ask obviously. They played Wii months ago and the wii board said he was 105 lbs. he's gone up 4 clothing sizes since then, so I'm guessing 120ish.

Just don't know what to put him in. At least the incognito doesn't have arm rests. I found the CSO pick with an adult in it, so I think it would be our best bet.

If the Incognito doesn't work, try calling Dorel and see if you can get a hold of the base of an Intera. That was the widest booster I've ever seen.

I think the incognito is the best/only bet... I feel for the poor guy... I hope the parents have him being watched by a ped :-/

The parents are also morbidly obese. It sad.

DH's uncle was an obese child and morbidly obese adult. He died of heart failure at 34. Sometimes I want to show Friend Mom the chronology of photos, but I figure she knows they are fat and it isn't likely to do much but end the friendship.

Incognito and I'd definitely use a backless booster over the weight limit as opposed to a poor belt fit. Especially the Incognito, which can't really break under pressure.

This is really sad. Most of the time even children of obese parents aren't overweight as young children so for him to be that large that early is very scary :-/

If it helps any, I personally have used an Incognito. I am a 5'4" grown-up who is overweight (though not morbidly obese) and I fit fine. Obviously I am well over the weight limit, but I was riding in the backseat of a friend's car where I had known poor belt fit and I felt more comfortable using it than having the seatbelt over my abdomen. Had zero concerns about safety of sitting on the pad - which is what improved the belt fit - the clips just kind of hung off of the belt loosely.
