Top tether not staying tight anymore

I moved my son's radian yesterday, he kept bugging my newborn so we switched kids around. Ever since then, my top tether won't lock up and stay tight. I messed with it for a while and I can't get it to stay.
I'm going to email Diono to see what they say. Has this ever happened to you? Is there a way to fix it?

MOST tether adjusters are, essentially, a locking latchplate. I have seen (in my mom's truck with an 86-y harnesses for a specific example) a tether hit the vehicle seatback at just the right angle to unlock.

I know, it's not locking in any position, I tried a bunch of different things.

So is the tether latchplate actually not working? Or is it loosening because of its position against the top of the seatback? It has to be one or the other.

Can you use a locking clip on it til you talk to diono? I know it's no probably technically allowed but it may be a temporary solution. Knowing their customer service you'll get a new seat bc of it :) At least the radians test well without the tethers... (I posted this response early this morning to your car seat safety Fb post...)

The tether strap wouldn't be wide enough for a locking clip. A locking clip used on a belt that doesn't lock in any other way, ie emergency locking, would also be useless. You would never use a locking clip on a seatbelt with a locking latchplate that was broken because nothing would be locking the belt in place.

Yeah, it's just not working. The plate can slide back and forth but not lock.
