DD has been in her new Frontier 90 for two months now. I have her in harness mode even though she could be boostered (she uses a Parkway in DH's car and does just fine) because we are 3-across in my car. She likes the Frontier, except that she continues to say that the straps are really uncomfortable. I don't think she's protesting being harnessed generally, but she says that the straps make her neck achy. I think from what I can tell, the straps are just set too narrowly? Like they are too close to her neck? She complains no matter what she is wearing (t-shirt or sweater), and the straps have the covers on them, so they're not digging in to her neck. I think it might have more to do with the pressure they're somehow putting on her neck? I think they are positioned correctly - just at or slightly higher than her shoulders. It doesn't help if we loosen the straps a bit, so I don't think it has to do with them being too tight either. She didn't complain about this at all in the Radian that she used until just two months ago.
It's getting to the point where she is dreading getting in to the car because of the "uncomfy straps", and she's had a few rides where she's cried for the first five minutes because of them. If she gets distracted talking with her brother or reading or whatever, it's not as much of a problem. But I'm feeling like she probably has a legitimate complaint, so I thought I'd check to see if you all have any advice/insight about what to check or change so she can be more comfortable. Or should I just switch her to booster mode and figure out how to deal with buckling in a 3-across situation (a stinkin' tight one in our 2005 Outback)? I was hoping to keep her harnessed for a while still if possible (which is why I was willing to spend so much money on a Frontier).
(hope this is posted in the right spot)
