Question Growing out of booster

So my 11.5 year old got to go booster less in the Ody middle row this last week. He's been without a booster for about 6 months in our Honda Fit and has been asking to go without in the van. We were driving 5 hours to MN last week and he was in his Amp and I was watching him really be squirmy which is not like him in the car. He started sliding off of the booster and slouching in it. He literally looked like he just wasn't fitting on the seat any longer. I pulled over and told him to take the booster out and he sat on the van seat and sat perfectly after I did that. His feet touch the floor, the shoulder belt hits nice and the lap belt isn't 100% perfect, but it's probably 95% right and best of all he wasn't squirming any longer. I really think his legs just got too long to sit on the amp and his head was going over the top of the head rest sitting on the amp too. I could do some more shopping for another booster, but I know my options are very limited for a kid his size and I think I am going to call him good. Any advice on this, similar experiences?

My older Ody never fits anyone right in the lapbelt, I've really had to teach the kids to pull it down over their thighs. I'd also use an Incognito as long as possible, if feasible. 11.5 is when my kids fit in the captain's chairs, too :)
