Why is britax still on the lower end of expiration time?

I'm assuming it's to keep the kids in the most up to date technology possible but if they can extend their frontiers to 9 years it'd be nice if they lengthened their convertibles and boosters to at least 7 or 8 years considering the cost of them.

I love the idea of the safeguard clip when the time comes to needing one but it's hard to pass up some of the other good rated boosters that are half the price with a much longer lifespan. I may be buying a booster to use with a school aged child I will be watching and would like to have it later for Sophie but the parkway would have maybe half it's life left by then.

(Sorry for the vent, just thoughts after Cosco extended their dates...)

Convertibles with the black shell are 7 years. Yeah, dunno what's up with the PW.

Also, yeah, I just looked at my Cosco booster and it is definitely 8 years (definitely nothing to go bad on that thing, not even any foam to crumble, hence why Leah just rejected it as 'too plasticky', lol)

My mistake on the convertibles bc my daughter has always been tall and not a good match so I haven't looked at them in a long time but yeah the parkway... What makes it THAT much different than the others? You'd think they would've extended the lifespan with the redesign.

I have a Cosco seat with a longer lifespan also that I wouldn't think would have any "superior" materials to the britax.

A long expiration is kind of nice for seats that are seldom used or spend a lot of time in a closet between kids. Like infant seats.

Seats that spend 6 years in a car are bound to be looking a bit rough by the end. For example my 5 year old recaro signo has really bleached out, bubbly stickers. Covers start getting faded, elastic gives out, etc.

I understand your annoyance though. I have two kids 5.75 years apart and it doesn't work out for hand me down car seats.

I think the mold and plastic of the frontier is different from their other seats. Why they don't last as long as some others... I'm not sure.
