FFing car seat for air travel

I am looking for recommendations for a FFing car seat (harness to booster?) for airplane travel. I'm looking to use the seat for my 4.5 year old who is 41-42" tall and wears size 5 t-shirts. We will use the car seat to get to/from the airport, on the airplane and as a second car seat to use occasionally in our second vehicle. I'm not looking to spend much. I already ordered a Radian but it was shipped by boat (I currently live overseas) and it probably won't get her in time for our trip back to the USA. Thanks for any advice!

Re: FFing car seat for air travel

For a tall child I would recommend the Evenflo SureRide, it is a convertible but has one of the highest top slots (19.25 inches) of any harnessed seat, and is lightweight to carry on and off the plane (and you can find it on sale for less then $100). If you don't want to spend the money on a convertible seat you could look into the Evenflo SecureKid (but the top harness slots are 18 inches) There is also the Britax Pioneer 70 with top slots of 19.5 but Britax's in general are heavy and might be a pain to lug through the airport.
