Turbo boosters fit check

I got the regular Turbobooster and the Turbobooster w/SS today.

My daughter likes the regular one better. That would make it her main seat in a 2012 Ford Focus. This vehicle does have side air bags.

That would put the TB w/SS in a 2000 Ford Windstar. As old as it is maybe she needs better side protection in that vehicle.

I'd prefer the SS to be her main seat but she swears the regular Turbobooster is more comfortable because she said the SS squeezes her shoulders.

Here's the plain TB photo

Headrest could go up a click or two...hard to tell exactly from here but it looks like the top of her head is over the top of the headrest.

Ok. It says in the manual that the bottom of the headrest should be even with the top of the child's shoulders.

I'll try to get a better photo of both tomorrow.

I second moving the head rests up. Both fits look great and I would be fine with either seat in either place. The ss might be comfier with the headrest up

I third moving the headrests up. :p That might be why her shoulders feel squished. She's adorable.

I prefer the safety surround as her main seat, but I also don't want to fight her on it.

It is suppose to rain all day tomorrow, but I'll definitely try to get better pics tomorrow. I had to take her to the dr today and work, so I didn't have a chance to get decent pics.

I looked at the SS in target for an older child I will probably be babysitting this fall and my 3.5 yo wanted to sit in it. (Just in the store of course) It honestly looked tight on her shoulders and she didn't like it either... It would've been my top choice of what target had in stock but as narrow as it was I didn't get it for the older child.

This look better? The seat goes above the top of her head. It is hard to see with the sun glare.

That looks much better! I like the shoulder belt fit. How does she feel in it now?

Edited to add, the top of her head doesn't have to be below the headrest. The rule for FF seats and boosters is that the tips of her ears need to be contained within the shell.

She fell asleep on the ride home. She still swears the other one is better. Lol.

We're keeping both, so I figure I'll let her sit in both for a few days and then let her decide. I think if we went on a longer trip I'd probably make her use the SS.

Thanks for clarifying. I misunderstood what folks wrote here. I kept looking in the manual where it said that...but it didn't.

I'm glad her fit looks good. I was beginning to think I'd never get this booster thing right!

I read that last night. I really have been stressing over her going into a booster..more than necessary.

I think these two seats will be great for us. I got a great deal on them and I'm glad my booster search is over!

I wonder if the preference has anything to do with color? She looks great in her new seats.

She claims it doesn't, but the regular Turbobooster is purple, and more girly.

I've noticed the SS is wider, so it'll definitely be harder for her to buckle herself. I don't mind continuing to buckle her in. I have a smaller sedan so this may nit be the same in roomier vehicles.
