Now that we've seen both, honestly, what would you get? I'm having a hard time deciding. I just had my heart set on the Signo, but I was bummed about the 18 vs 19 inch height. DS is 2.5 (almost to the day), he weighs around 30lbs, and I think his torso height is slightly over 13 inches. This will be installed in a 91 explorer (thus lacking pretty much any safety features), but I do get excellent installs in the center, which is where the seat will be (and ford has already installed a tether for FF when the time comes).

just FYI, it's really *at least* 18" max harness height on the signo... more like 18.5" if you remove the toddler pillow and push down a little on the padding, which is thick on the recaros. i wrote 18" in my review as a conservative number.

the deal sealer for me was the LATCH bar and the infinite adjust. i installed both a como and a signo, and while the bases and shells are essentially identical, the signo gave me a slightly more rock-solid install with less effort.

also, the signo isn't plagued with the twisty straps since they changed the buckle and tongues.

My 53 inch 8 yo still fit AT the top slots of the Como, but the shoulder wings were too constricting. The shoulder area of the signo looks to be wider, so I presume she'll still fit in it (i ordered a signo from dreamtimebaby, they sent me a como, i'm trading it back for the signo...)...not that I'll use it for my 8 yo, but I'm thinking it'll fit Leah comfortably till she's 7 :)

i haven't compared them. but you can look at my measurements of the shoulder room for the signo (oh wait, you have one yourself :) ) and compare them with someone's measurements of the como (i forgot who measured a como). i *suspect* that the signo is a tad wider (1/2" ?) because it doesn't have the EPS foam along the sides like the como has.

Now you're leaning me back to the Signo...ooooooh why is it taking so loooong?? Your older DD has similar stats as my son. Did she seem annoyed with the headwings? Do you think she would be, say three or four years down the road, or would they even still fit her?

Has anyone with an older child gotten (actually have in your hands already) a Signo? Like a 5 or 6 year old

did you see the pictures of both my DDs in the signo? check out my review in the carseat review section, there are links at the end of the review. there is *plenty* of space between the headwings. i even put my own head in there and there was room.
You just wouldn't show a picture ;)

I did see your review...about 100 times, I've stared and looked and read and reread  The vote is 7 to 1 for the Signo. I suppose I'll keep waiting.

Here's a link to my post about the Signo in a thread over on Coffee Break, with a photo link showing my almost 6 year old DD sitting in it: http://www.car-seat.org/showpost.php?p=239206&postcount=6

She complained about the headwings, but she never has used a seat with headwings other than a rare trip using a Parkway. She has room between the headwings, but complained any way, and also immediately complained about her shoulders before I adjusted the Signo's harness up to the tallest position. Her little sister, for whom the Signo purchase is intended, is used to seats with headwings. Her first seat was a Baby Trend Latch Loc, and she's also used to riding in the Blvd.

This is somewhat off the subject, but I'm wondering if the headpillows on the Como are pretty much useless for toddlers + in age, would it be safe to say the Como is Recaro's answer to the Marathon vs the Signo being the answer to the Blvd?

I went with the Como; I really do feel that it will be a seat that my DS can use longer than the Signo, because of the headspace that is taken up by the headwings on the Signo. Besides, the Como DOES have SIP in the shell, even without the head pillows, so you're not losing a safety feature by not having the headwings. Honestly, re-threading the harness straps occasionally isn't a big deal to me; we have a BV, too, and the infinite harness height adjust is nice, but it's just not a "must-have" for me.

I'm most interested in knowing the exact shoulder room width at the top harness slots for both the como and the signo! I am dying to know this. :p

That would be the deciding factor for me since my 3 year old's shoulders are too broad for the Marathon. I love how deep the sides of the Como and Signo are, also like the longer buckle strap. Out of the Signo and the Como, I would not want the seat with most norrow shoulder room at the highest slot. The head-wings/pillows on both seats are fine, since the Como's remove and the Signo's are wide enough for SPB's head. :ROTFLMAO:

My boy is happy in his Regent right now, but I am sorting out the Signo vs. Como issue in advance in case I should ever need to decide! Future references. :p

My DS's have broader shoulders, so we are hoping the Signo will work. I have read many reviews from other sites that the Como is not good for broad shouldered kids. My DS's are just broad enough to not fit in the MA, and I think the Como is the same. But, the Signo may not be much better. We'll see. My vote- Signo. :D I am hoping it will be worth the LONG wait.

I measured 11 to 11.5" of shoulder width in the Signo (right below the headwings) with the harness and headwings raised to the highest position.
