Evenflo SureRide RF height limit changed from 40" to 37"

I had a parent contact me today regarding a discrepancy between the RF height limit listed on the box and the manual of an Evenflo SureRide she bought last week. In one place on the box, it says 37" and another 40". The manual says 37".

I looked up the manual online and sure enough, Evenflo changed it to 37"! I have an Evenflo SureRide with a 5/2013 manufacture date laying around and the manual AND the sticker on the seat itself both state 40" as the RF height limit.

Has anyone else noticed this change?

What's the DOM on her seat?

The DOM is 2/17/2014.

The mom clarified that the manual inside the box says the RF height limit is 40". The sticker on the seat itself says 40" but the box has 2 different labels. I sent another message to her asking if the labels on the box are stickers or printed on the cardboard.

She had been looking at the manual online from work. The online manual says 37". https://plweb.evenflo.com/ShowDocument.aspx?ManualID=1005

"The one that says 40" is printed on the box. The one that says 37" is a sticker. They're on opposite sides of the box."

Old boxes.

Before it was released it was going to have a 37" limit. And a few did (some that were sent to the stores early for showing were sold, so we had some people have them, then they were pulled from the shelves and officially released later). But since they've been released they've been 40"/40 pounds.

I recall the old limits with only the bottom slots being allowed for RF. But wow, in that case, they need some new boxes! That was 2012 (?) and this seat was manufactured last month (2014).

The bottom three slots used to be allowed rear facing, now it's the bottom four slots.

Yeah, I'm confused by this as well, but that's my only guess. Or they forgot to tell the box printer. LOL

Your theory sounds plausible. ;) I hope that's the case because this seat is awesome for extended rear facing (or harnessing in general) on a budget. If they've gone back to 37", I will be very disappointed.

But if 40" is on the box, and 37" is on stickers added to the box, it sounds to me like the 37" limit was added after. That would really suck.

Wah :crying: in Canada especially where we have Dorel and their 36" limit, Evenflo and their (mostly) 37" limit, and then a big jump in price to get to anything longer lasting.

PikkuMyy are you planning to follow up with Evenflo? If you do, would you please ask if any changes (if there are any) apply to Canada?

I certainly hope I'm wrong.

wouldn't evenflo contact those of us that are registered owners of sureride/titan 65 as well as post it on their social media? I mean, I don't know for sure, but you would think they would be required to notify people of that change

What is the date on the online manual? I suspect she is looking at an old version of the manual.

Even if Evenflo is changing it (unlikely but possible), I would have her go by the manual that came with the seat and the stickers on the seat. Only if there's a discrepancy between those two would I ask Evenflo for clarification. The box doesn't count as instructions in my book, and we all know there have been different guidelines on this seat over time so an online manual is outranked by the paper one that is included with the actual seat.

I'm guessing someone went to print stickers for the box and accidentally pulled up an old copy of the sticker-printing document to edit and didn't notice it had the old info on it.

Katri, this might be a silly question, but is the parent in Canada by chance?

I am also curious to know what you hear from Evenflo if you contact them.
