How is this as a booster ? My DD is 41lbs and 45 in. Is this a good option for her ?

What are other options for a first booster ?

Big kid or big kid AMP? There is a difference. If it's the Amp you want to know about, it's my back up booster for emergency / nieces (even though it's blue) and will be my oldest first booster when I start teaching my rules for booster riding later this month/April. He is 48lbs and 44", I can get a pic or two of him in it tomorrow if you'd like. I like it as an inexpensive booster.

You can get the Amp in a high back online, it's how I got mine. I can't remember why, but I seem to remember that the "plain" Big Kid isn't as recommended as the Amp...... Hmmmmm, hopefully someone else gets in on this convo, lol. Maybe isn't doesn't go as high?

I seem to remember that the armrests are higher and thus do not keep the lap belt down on the thighs but rather up on the belly.

I could be mistaken though, or the seat may have changed since I read that, so take my comment with a grain of salt.:)

Walmart has a big kid sport high back booster for $29.50. They have the big kid amp no back for roughly $25-$30.
I was thinking of getting a no back because they are cheaper but for an extra $5 I would get a high back.

DD1 had one of those and we liked it. There's not much to the back really, but it does the job. She started using it when she was 8 or so and using a backless quite often as well so I didn't really care that there weren't big headwings and eps etc. It wasn't great for sleeping, but she managed it a few times and it did help position the shoulder belt a bit better in our van until she grew a bit more.

The base is an Amp which fit her quite nicely up until a couple of months ago. She's really close to 5 stepping and the leg support wasn't cutting it anymore. We never had any issues with lapbelt fit. DD2 is much smaller and used it a time or two and although I do like her in a Turbo a bit better, the Big Kid was fine. HTH!

Yeah, I looked at the pic, and the arm rests are noticeably higher on it than on my Amp. I could totally see it cause the lap belt to be in the wrong spot depending on seat belt geometry.

The base is the same as all the other Amps. I think maybe the color under the armrests and angle of pic is misleading. The sport version just has a cheaper, less padded cover.

The Big Kid booster with the sometimes too high armrests is this one. They flip up out of the way and are actually adjustable in height. We had one of those years ago and it was fine on my stocky DS in the lower position, but not a universal fit and definitely easier to misuse.

Ya know, it's almost as bad as Graco, :/. But it could easily be the angle of the pics.

The big kid with fixed arm rests should provide the same fit as the AMP and big kid AMP. The flip up arm rests seem to be being phased out.

My understanding with the big kid sport was it is usually a good fit like the amp. We have the $30 big kid sport from WM and it does provide a good fit on my dd. And the back doesn't flop like the tb. It's our "second" sea, not the main one so I wasn't concerned about less padding.

I really love the belt fit of the Rightway, and it's super easy for the 5 yo I watch to buckle himself... http://www.walmart.com/ip/Cosco-Pronto-1.1-Booster-Car-Seat-Emerson/21128101
Amp doesn't work in my cars, unfortunately, it lifts my kids so high that the shoulderbelt anchors make the belt go off their arms. So I'm always a fan of boosters that 'boost' less, and the Rightway is really low.
Harmony Dreamtime is also a really nice seat, I think it's on clearance at our local walmarts right now, but under $40 at Target.

I need to come up to bru with her to see you one day. I have no idea where to start on a booster. We only have harness seats and an Argos.
