A bit late for a follow-up, but hoping to get some insight.

Were you successful using the Marathon on the ERJ-145?

My wife and I are taking our daughter on her first flight on one and I'm trying to decide on the right car seat for her. She'll be 16 months at the time of the flight

We have purchased a seat for her on the flight (WAY too squirmy to go lap) and I'm looking at the Britax Marathon or Pavillion, but am open to other options.

Whichever we use will also be installed in the rental car at our destination too.

When my DD was 3 we used a Britax Diplomat, is like a smaller version of a Boulevard, it was easy to install but it was hard for her to use the table tray to color or eat because the seat seats high...
For our other trips we have used a Radian and it is great for flying, (imo) it seats low and she was able to color and things like that. It was also easy to install, she didn't have any head slump when she napped... it was easier to carry that the Britax because it has the option of been folded and it comes with carry straps. I hope this was helpful!

If you are talking about getting a seat specifically for travel, I would probably get a Safety 1st Guide 65. For a long flight, you'll want your baby to be as comfortable as possible for sleeping, and the Guide should fit rear-facing on the plane. Even if it's a short flight, it would still be ideal for a child her age to remain rear-facing on the plane like I presume she is in the car; although it's less critical in the air than it is in a car just because planes are so much safer. It is also lightweight and economical, and narrow enough to fit on an airplane seat.
