Experiences with click tight?

I got a frontier today and I have to say I'm not loving the click tight feature. I find it hard to do, I'm worried it's putting a lot of pressure on my seatbelt and it just seems like one more thing to break on a seat that is supposed to last, what 9 years.

I'm debating sending it back.

I don't know what else to get my 44" tall 4 yo though.

WWYD?

Re: Experiences with click safe?

I am a bit confused, so I just want to clarify -- Are you referring to the system for installation or for harness tightness? Click tight is the method of installation for the frontier -- click safe is the snug harness indicator (not sure if the frontier has it, but some other britax seats do).

Re: Experiences with click safe?

I have used the click tight seat since it came out last year, i have not noticed any wear on my seat-belt. You just have to be careful to not over tighten the belt before closing the mechanism.

If your really not comfortable with it you can get the pioneer70 which doesn't have the mechanism in it.

Yes but it will still last a long time, I know my 47in 5 yr old (wears 6-7sz shirt) has 3-4 in torso growth in the frontier so most likely would still get a 44 in 4 yr old to age 6 harnessed

I have the Pioneer, and it’s pretty good, but I don’t like the buckle system at all. I really love my FN 85 though. If you don’t mind a retired seat, they are still selling them on Kohls.com

The key to the click tight is to not over tighten the seat belt. Pull it just tight enough so that it doesn't have extra slack, but keep in mind that you pulling it is not what tightens the seat. With ours the click tight closes easily and I give it just a slight push at the end. We had it installed on the same seat for 8 months and the seat belt was fine.

When I install my FRct, I leave the belt as loose as I can while still achieving a snug install. It takes some practice, but I feel comfortable that it won't stretch my seatbelts that way :)
