Anyone know what movie was this?

I just remembered a movie I saw a long time ago on late night TV. The dad let the kid ride in the back of a station wagon unbuckled and they got in an accident. It was minor and he told the kid not to tell anyone he wasn't buckled in. Later, when someone questioned the kid's bruises, the kid acted supicious. It caused a whole "did the dad physically abuse the kid" story of misunderstandings. I think I fell asleep so I don't remember how it ended. The dad was John Ritter.

Was it "Problem Child." I haven't seen it but Ritter was a father in that I think.

Could it have been Beau Bridges? He looks similar to John Ritter.

Could be! It was a long time ago. I think it was a made for TV movie. I don't know what made me think of it now!
