What's a typical seated shoulder height for a 10.5 month old?

My baby is 10.5 months old and on the small side. She was 26.5" the doctor's office at about 9 months. Now she's probably an inch taller.

We just got a Britax roundabout and it has a "seated shoulder height" measuring tool on the side of the box. I sat her against it and she was at 12". Any idea whether this is tall or short for a torso? She seems long-torsoed to me, but I have no idea.

I just measured my DS because he's the same age. He was 28.5 at his 9 month check up and I measured seated shoulder height (using a tape measure and a second set of adult hands) as 11.5". He's on the second slots of his snugride 35.

ETA: he wears sposies. Sometimes a big diaper bum can make a difference in seated height.

I would guess that 12 inches is a bit long for a 26-27" tall baby.

My kids have the shortest torsos, it is hilarious. My 15 month old is 28" tall and has a 9.5" torso. She doesn't wear diapers though.

My 7 year old had a 12" torso at 3. He has a 15" torso now. Weird, right?

DREAM children for ERF, though! ;)

Agreed. I am super jealous. A long-torsoed kid is kind of the worst of all worlds -- short enough that they'll have to be in a booster forever, but the long torso means they'll outgrow RF sooner. I'm glad we got the Nextfit for our own car. We'll see. Maybe down the road when she outgrows the RA in her grandparents' car, we'll replace it with a size4me so she can keep RF.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry yet. It's really hard to say at this age. Unless you are having to buy much larger onesies than pants, she's probably pretty average.

:yeahthat:

I wouldn't worry yet about an infant's proportions. I remember years ago when my older child was a baby and it was agreed on here that moving up to the 12" slots on the old school britax was average for 12 month olds. So she is in good company with her torso size.
