Keyfit vs. BSafe

I wasn't planning on buying a baby seat yet, but with BRU starting their trade in event and a crashed seat in my garage...it's time!

I am debating between the Keyfit and the BSafe. We need something small (I'd love an Aton, but too pricey). I only use the infant seat for about 6-7 months.

My hold up with the BSafe is the cover isn't machine washable. That wouldn't have been an issue with DS, as he never spit up or had big blowouts. However, I need to be prepared for that possibility ;). Is the BSafe cover REALLY not machine washable? Have people washed theirs? Can I use the hand wash cycle on my machine?

Anyone have any strong feelings of one of these seats over the others? Thanks :D

I don't know how the Keyfit and BSafe directly compare, but I have an Aton because of a small space need too. When I installed my sister's BSafe behind the passenger seat in a rental minivan (I think it was something called a Stow n Go?) I was shocked at how far I had to move the passenger seat forward. Pretty cramped.

So, my impressions is that the BSafe isn't the best for small spaces. I have heard that the Keyfit is good, but I don't know how they directly compare.

I've washed my b-safe cover several times in my front load washer (delicate, cold water) without problem!

I think front to back space they are pretty much the same. I can't remember now the b-safe bases shape my cousin has one, but I do know the keyfits base is nice and slim. Cousin got the b-safe because the adapter for her stroller was cheaper. (Since they are both really nice seats).

I wash my B Safe cover in the washer too, no issues yet :). In my own experience the B Safe was only an inch or so longer than the Chicco when installed in my car. It wasn't a noticeable difference to me.

I loved the material on the BSafe. I never machine washed it, but it was super easy to spot clean because of the material. It worked well with our tight 3-across too. Hands down my favorite infant seat out of the 3 I've used for my kids.
