Does anyone have a specific website or video why you need to replace an expired car seat. It's a britax decathlon and is 6 yrs old.

Does she really need his permission? :(

(Not intended as snarky, really.)

I'm kinda :yeahthat:, but I'm lucky that my DH understands and accepts the concept of plastic, etc. breaking down. My mom, I had to use an example of finding some old Tupperware in the garage and having it crack/break the first time you try to use it. That has worked on a few others as well.

I'm lucky that DH lets me handle this. He doesn't want to have to make these decisions. :D Yet, I do think she has the parental right to buy it anyway. I hope there is a video that will convince him and that they can figure it out.

Isn't there a video of a harness ripping out of an expired seat floating around? I remember a member here talking about it making a big impression on her (not that she needed it).

It's plastic and it has been exposed to extreme temperatures. Has he seen children's toys left outside exposed to those temperatures, and how brittle they become? And because Britax doesn't guarantee its safety anymore, he would essentially be saying he wants to use his child as a crash test dummy to see if the seat would still protect the child in a crash.
