Thinking about buying a Sureride as a spare seat but was wondering if Evenflo has addressed the following concerns:

Not able to use upper slots for rear facing
Huge gap between lower/upper slots
Harness straps much too short for kids that still have lots of room to grow in seat
Harness coming off the splitter plate

Thanks!

Are you in Canada or US? The one I have, would have to double check DOM, and I'm US, I can use the 4th slot for RFing, Canada can't. The bottom three are slanted, the top three are not. There is still a huge gap between the bottom 3 and top 3 sets of slots. My son will likely run out of harness before he maxes it out by height, unless they come out with a retroactively approved longer harness. I've never had my harness come off the splitter plate, but IF I loosen mine, I clip the chest clip to pull, always have on all of my seats. But I also only adjust a couple, maybe 3 times a year for growth/season change.

It seems after that early batch, people aren't having the harness issues. Replacements that were sent because of it don't have the issue in the same cars. The first I THINK is only an issue in Canada?

Sadly (for us) yes, and this is what is in our manuals re that coveted 4th slot:

We have loved ours for both FF & RF and haven't experienced any issues with the concerns you raised. Yes there is a big jump from lower to upper slots, on the 3rd slot they were significantly below the shoulders but that didn't cause any problems for us. Harness length is fine so far, and we never experienced it slipping off the plate (I even tried to recreate it!).

I am wondering if anyone has actually been able to use the 4th set of slots for RF. My child is now 43", I had him sit in the seat RF just out of curiosity, and the 4th set is still above his shoulders. I'm not sure that Canada is really missing out here...

He was at the limits so he didn't ride RF, but he would have been able to use the 4th slot for a while before outgrowing it if I got the seat earlier http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=243565 he does have a long torso though.

Wow, thanks for the link to your pix! It sure is crazy how differently kids can fit. Our kids are total opposites, as mine is 43", his shoulders are below the 4th slots, and his head is much further below the top of shell. I guess he has crazy long legs and a short torso! :)
