Question Need new car seats

Hi there,

My youngest son is currently in a Britax Marathon which is about to expire. We require a new seat for him. I would prefer he was still 5-point harnessed. What is the best model for the best price? My husband and I are currently unemployed ...$400 would be a bit pricey, but am not going to cheap it out. My oldest could do with another seat as well, he is currently only using a small backless booster, which I don't really like...he always falls asleep in the car and slouches. Makes me nervous!

Here are the stats:

Oldest boy: 7 years old, 76(-ish) pounds, 52 inches
Youngest: 4 years old, 43 pounds, 43 inches
Cars: 2007 Hyundai Tucson and 2002/2003 Subaru Forester

They mainly travel in the Tucson, esp. long distances, but short trips are sometimes in the Forester.

Thank you in advance for any help. It is greatly appreciated.

Your younger one what size shirts does the LO wear? You could look at the harmony defender, evenflo secure kid 300/400, graco nautilus and evenflo sureride besides the frontier (which is awesome I have one but it might not be the best use of your budget). Maybe check out the britax parkway sg for your older one as it's pretty tall.

Sorry, perhaps I should have mentioned that I am in Canada, I know there are different models available here.

Thank you for the suggestions so far! My youngest is in shirts anywhere from 4 to 6, depending on make, but I would say 5 overall.

For the older boy, you'll need a tall booster. Like a Parkway or Monterey. The cheapest I've seen the Parkway is $140 on Amazon. For your younger boy there's the Maestro ($90 on rollback at Walmart) which will soon be outgrown (50lb weight limit), the Securekid ($200-ish), Nautilus ($160 at some Walmarts right now, otherwise $200-ish), Frontier ($340). There's also the Sureride, which is a convertible like your Marathon, that has super tall harness slots ($100 on sale at ToysRUs).

I think the best bang for your buck would be to get a Parkway and either a Maestro (if you want your younger boy in a seatbelt sooner), or a Sureride (if you want him harnessed for another couple years). It really doesn't matter that the Sureride doesn't have booster mode because by the time it's outgrown, the Parkway will be available to use and you can sell the Sureride.
